We Are The World

We Are The World

Dear Readers,

I'm devoting the next few entries to a few songs which lyrics I feel is very meaningful and touches my heart, especially in times like now.

If you can, please read the words carefully and mindfully, and feel, Really feel.

And search deep within your hearts and ask yourselves, 'is there anything I can do, what can I do, and How can I help to make this world a better place for all sentient beings to live in, a place where we can All call 'Home'.

It doesn't have to be monetary, it can be a smile, or a helping hand.

Please know that some words of some of the songs have been changed to make it universal.

Enjoy!

With all my love,

Maitre-Light :)

We Are The World

There comes a time

When we heed a certain call

When the world

Must come

Together As One

There are people dying

And it's time to lend a hand

To life

The greatest gift of all

We can't go on

Pretending day by day

That someone, somewhere will soon make a change

We are all a part of

One big happy family

And the truth, you know

Love is all we need

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day

Just you and me.

Send everyone your heart

So they know that someone cares

Then all our lives will be stronger and free

With love in our hearts as our guiding light

To lead us the way

So let us all lend a helping hand

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's time we'll make a better day

Just you and me.

When you are down and out

There seems no hope at all

But if you just believe

There's no way we can fall

Well... well... well... well...

Let us realise

That a change will only come

When we stand together as One

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So lets start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's time we make a better day

Just you and me.

Life : The Ironies, what Truly matters and its Purpose

Life : The Ironies, what Truly matters and its Purpose

Below is something which I feel is very meaningful and which I would like to share with everyone .....

Something for all of us to consider, or at least give a serious thought to.

I've adapted and changed them to make them more complete.

I hope it triggers, or stir something inside all of you.

Enjoy and happy reading .....

Maitre-Light :)

"We have bigger houses and smaller families;

More conveniences, less time;

More degrees, less sense;

More knowledge, less judgement;

More intelligence, less wisdom;

More experts, less solutions;

More committees, less answers;

More medicine, less wellness;

We have multiplied our possessions but diminished our values;

We talk too much, love too seldom and hate too often.

These are times where leaders talk of world peace but without realising their own domestic imbalances and inadequacies.

We have more leisure but less fun;

More kinds of food but less nutrition.

These are days of 2 incomes but more divorces;

Fancier houses but broken homes ....."

Indeed, we have a lot to learn about life, and what Truly matters.

Such as

- Avoid comparing ourselves with others; it's because we're different that's what makes us special.

- Never set our goals by others' standards. Only we know what's best for us.

- Never take things or people for granted. Learn to treasure, cherish and appreciate what we have. Always count our blessings and not lament on our woes.

- Avoid being trapped in a time warp. For by living in the past or for the future, we're letting our lives slip us by.

- Avoid living life so fast that we do not know where we're going or where we had been. Learn to live life moment by moment, and when we live life moment to moment, we lived and experienced each and every moment of our lives.

- Never give up when we still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment we stop trying.

- Never be afraid to admit our mistakes, or that we are less than perfect. For sometimes, the pain and suffering which we go through are needed to help us learn, grow and understand. And, it's through our failures and weaknesses that we learn, we grow and we become 'awaken'.

- Never allow fear to stop us from doing anything in life. For it is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

- Never shut love out of our lives by saying it's impossible to find. The fastest way to receive love is to give love; and the fastest way to lose love is to hold it tightly. More importantly, the best way to have love is to give it wings to fly.

- Never forget that everyone's greatest emotional need is in the following : To be accepted, appreciated and attended to.

- Never be afraid to learn. For it's a treasure we can always carry around easily.

- Avoid using time and/or words carelessly. For neither can be retrieved.

And last but not least, what truly matters is to know that Life is not a race,

But a journey to be savoured each step of the way ....."

I've found the purpose of my life.

Have you found yours, yet?

"The purpose of my life is to discover Truth and Happiness, to do good, to serve, and to make my life beneficial for all sentient beings."

"A good life is inspired by love and guided by wisdom."

- The Buddha

"It is not that something is wrong with the world, but something is wrong with us."

- Venerable Dr K. Sri Dhammananda

"If we are unduly attached to material things, we will experience various problems.

Fear, insecurity and suspicions will disturb our peace of mind."

- Venerable Dr K. Sri Dhammananda

"We can make use of this life for a better purpose by being of service to others, by cultivating morality, by training the mind, and by living as cultured men in peace and harmony with the rest of the world."

- Venerable Dr K. Sri Dhammananda
